We don’t just love the creative process of branding around here at Ink Rebels, we love the printing part too. So when we get to mix those two things – well – it’s just a killer day all around. We were very pleased to be asked to brand Vinhedo Bom Jesus (Good Jesus Vineyard), an organic family-owned vineyard on the hills of Portugal’s Atlantic coast. Bringing in elegant design influences found in long-established vineyards, while maintaining a modern arrangement that will stand out on the shelves, we were pleased with the resulting label even before it hit press.
So now comes the printing part (we are a printing company, after all). What stock to put it on? Standard label stock (matte or C1S) just didn’t seem to have the gravitas that a quality wine bottle label demanded. We ended up settling on a 60# recycled wet strength stock – it had the lovely hand-feel that communicates as much about the quality of the wine as the design itself, but was compatible with HP Indigo digital presses for short-run printing. As you can see from these mockups, it was definitely the right choice.
When it comes to wine label design and printing, particularly for an individually-owned vineyard, we feel that it’s important to use a stock that can run digitally. When only 50 Gran Riserva bottles are produced, it doesn’t make financial sense for the client or printing company to run it on the press.
Overall, we feel as though we’ve put together a classy, timeless design and matched it with a high-quality stock that keeps the presentation uniform throughout. Our client was more than pleased to see everything come together! As always, if you’ve come in from Google and are wondering whether we can print something like this for you, the answer is a resounding yes! Just get in touch using the contact form.
