RESPONSIBLE PRINTING: ONE ORDER – ONE TREE
Let’s talk about trees for a minute. As crafters of printed goods, we’re acutely aware that our industry heavily contributes to the usage of this precious resource. We recycle hundreds of tons of paper each year and we’ve made a concerted effort to use responsibly-sourced papers, but we don’t just want to offset our impact – we want to invert it. Ink Rebels has made a commitment to responsible printing and being an Earth-conscious company, and it is because of this commitment that we are pleased to announce our “One Order – One Tree” program in partnership with the National Forest Foundation.
For every order placed with Ink Rebels we will make a donation of one tree to the NFF, to be planted on your behalf!
It is estimated that a single tree can provide enough material for almost 5,000 sheets of non-recycled paper. Our average order uses around 100 sheets, which means that when you order from Ink Rebels you are certainly not just consuming paper and not merely off-setting your consumption either; you’re actually making a positive contribution to the 8 Million+ trees that have been planted through this program. At Ink Rebels, we’re committed to being a responsible printing company and making a difference in the world – with your help we can keep America beautiful for generations to come. Each year we will publish our tree-planting totals as well as a list of abbreviated names thanking our reforestation partners (that’s you!) – oh and make sure to look out for your “I planted a tree” sticker that ships free with each order (pictured above)!
Responsible Printing: Environmentally-Friendly Papers & Ink
Planting trees is a great step towards responsible printing, but it’s not all we’re working on. We’re not just aware of what we’re removing from the environment but we’re equally concerned with what we’re putting back out into it. With this in mind, we’ve put a significant amount of time and work into ensuring that the consumables we use and the waste we produce has as small an environmental impact as possible.
Nearly all of the paper we use on a regular basis is either FSC Certified or Green Seal Certified, and we’re also quickly replacing our traditional stocks with a growing selection of 30-100% recycled content papers.

All of our inks meet environmental standards set by international governing bodies, but we are actively increasing the amount of vegetable-based inks with EcoSmart certification we use in our presses. Around long before the soy-ink trend of recent years, these inks not only have minimum renewable-resource content percentages, but being based on tung and linseed oils they are also significantly better for the environment than traditional inks. A little bit of ink on paper may not seem like a huge deal, but if you saw the gallons and gallons of ink we go through each year you would understand why we feel it’s so important.
Responsible printing can be inconvenient – it usually means a reduction in our profit margins and an increase in labor, but we think our planet is worth it and we hope that you’ll agree.
